Abstract
One of my fundamental takeaways from having had the privilege of studying and practising Japanese acumoxa (as opposed to TCM) and particularly keiraku chiryo is this: that yang tends toward excess, and that yin tends towards deficiency. What's more, behind this idea lies a secondary therapeutic one: that attending to this imbalance (ie by reducing excess of yang and/or supplementing deficiency of yin) makes for a healthier whole. With this in mind, I hope that you read on because I wonder whether the coronavirus may be telling us much about how our 21st-century world is sadly conforming to these yinyang tendencies--what's more, we may ourselves have tools that might help regulate these imbalances. As I hope I will have successfully shown by the article's end, some simple familiar interventions really might make a difference.
