A discussion of heat-sensing and direct moxa

Abstract
In the moxa technique known as chinetsukyu, the practitioner removes the burning moxa cone as soon as the recipient feels heat: this heat stimulates the sensory and autnomic nervous systems. Conversely, with direct moxibustion, the burning moxa cone remains in place until it burns itself out; in other words, even after the recipient feels the burning sensation.
