Abstract
In this review paper, hypertension is analyzed from a Chinese medicine perspective. Its etiology, pathogenesis, pattern differentiations, Chinese herbal medicine treatments,and acupuncture protocols are presented. Recent clinical trials are collected to validate the effectiveness of acupuncture treatment for hypertension. Systematic reviews and meta-analyses are included. Acupuncture mechanism studies indicate how acupuncture may ameliorate high blood pressure.
