Abstract
Jiang Zuo-Jing was Cao Ying-Fu’s top student and compiler of the famous work Jing Fang Shi Yan Lu (Record of Experiences with Classical Formulas) in which cases treated with classical formulas are described and the principles illustrated by them are discussed, along with appended comments by Cao Ying-Fu himself. In this series of three cases Jiang explains his interesting theory of taiyang warm disease and its relation to Ge Gen Tang (Pueraria Decoction), refuting along the way the idea that Ge Gen is a yangming herb and should not be used too early because it will drag the pathogen from taiyang into yangmind. The following in bold is instruction by Cao Ying-Fu, followed by commentary in plain text by Jiang Zuo-Jing.
