Abstract

Ye Gui (Ye Tianshi, 1667-1747) devotes the last section of his Wen Re Lun (Discussion of Warm-Heat) to describing his experience in dealing with women exposed to warm disease pathogens. The whole discussion on warm-heat was originally dictated to students while traveling on a boat to an island in Lake Tai, but was not printed for a number of years. It first appeared in the Wu Yi Hui Jiang (Collections of Papers by Physicians from Wu) under the title Wen Zheng Lun Zhi (Warm Patterns Discussion of Treatment), and afterwards in a number of versions with commentary by such luminaries as Wang Mengying, Zhang Xugu and Zhou Xuehai. Here the original from the Wu Yi Hui Jiang will be quoted first, with translation and commentary following each section.
