Abstract
Objective: To observe the effect of acupoint injection at muscular trigger points in the treatment of chronic tension headache and investigate the etiology and pathogenesis of the disease. Method: 44 cases of patients with chronic tension headache were randomly divided into two groups. the treatment group was treated by acupoint injection at muscular trigger points while the control group was treated by medicine. All cases were evaluated by visual analogue scale (VAS) before treatment and after 1 course of treatment. Short-term and long-term effects of VAS were evaluated at 3 months and 1 year after treatment. Results: The recent effective rate of the treatment group was significantly higher than the control group (P<0.01), and the curative effect was lasting. Conclusion: The effect of acupoint injection at muscular trigger points in the treatment of chronic tension headache is superior to that of taking medicine.
