Abstract

Objective: To observe the clinical efficacy of acupuncture plus auricular point sticking in treating post stroke hiccups. Methods: Sixty patients with post stroke hiccups who met the inclusion criteria were randomly divided into two groups according to their visiting sequence, and 30 patients in the treatment group were treated by acupuncture plus auricular point sticking, while the other 30 in the control group were treated by Metoclopramide via intramuscular injection. The efficacy was observed after the 3-day treatment. Results: The total effective rate in the treatment group was 93.3%, while 66.7% in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.01). Conclusion: Acupuncture plus auricular point sticking therapy was more effective than metoclopramide in treating post stroke hiccups.
