Abstract
As Kobayashi Sensei emphasizes, in Shakujyu Therapy, when inserting a needle it is essential to be conscious that you are bringing in the qi of the movement of the Tai Ji, the principle of ultimate yin and yang. This qi is then projected into the affected area. If you can do that, the qi of the affected area will move. It will eliminate the cold and become warm. In order to comprehend this projection mechanism, we performed experiments for two years and confirmed that needles hung on sewing strings moved as a result of energy emitted from palms and fingertips. In most cases, the needles manifested periodic and repetitive movements. We also explored the flare response or reddening of the skin by qi projection when we touched the skin with teishin needles using oshide and sashide hand positions. These responses are considered a reflection of the yang part of the projection mechanism. Kobayashi Sensei says that if we can recognize the affected area anatomically, we can consciously project qi into the affected area. This could be verified indirectly by the patient's response and would be considered the yin or unseen part of qi projection.
