Abstract

Vomiting and nausea are the most common adverse gastrointestinal reactions in malignant tumor to chemotherapy. To date, the commonly used 5-HT3 receptor antagonist can partially relieve symptoms, however, they have shortcomings, lacking effectiveness in delaying vomiting, inducing constipation, causing and hepatic lesion. Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) acupuncture and moxibustion therapy is widely used in TCM hospitals for treating nausea and vomiting induced by chemotherapy. This article analyzes and summarizes some recent literature discussing the use of acupuncture and moxibustion for preventing and treating chemotherapy induced vomiting and nausea and indicates that acupuncture and moxibustion therapy are very effective, without adverse reactions, and economical.
