Abstract

For treatment of malignant tumors in internal medicine, chemotherapy drugs are still the first choice. However, due to the lack of specificity of chemotherapy drugs, these medications cause many adverse reactions; the most common of which are inhibition of bone marrow, gastrointestinal symptoms and immunosuppression. These adverse reactions not only cause great pain to patients, but also hinder or delay the completion of chemotherapy. The consequences may be that growth rate of tumor is not effectively controlled, or exhaustion and shortened survival of patients. Since 1996, the author has used acupuncture and moxibustion therapy in treatment of bone marrow suppression after chemotherapy, and achieved satisfactory effect. The reports are as follows.
