Abstract

Objective: to observe the therapeutic effect of acupuncture combined with herbal enema in the treatment of chronic pelvic inflammation. Methods: 113 patients who had been diagnosed with chronic pelvic inflammation were randomly divided into a treatment group and a control group. Re-examination was executed after three courses of treatment to ensure confirmation that the inflammation had been alleviated. Results: both groups showed little to no side effects, and the therapeutic effect in the treatment group was better than that of the control group. Both results of the treatment were statistically significant (chi-square test P<0.01). Conclusions: acupuncture combined with Chinese herbal enema in the treatment of chronic pelvic inflammation was shown to have a definite therapeutic effect, and is safe and simple in manipulation.
