Abstract

Objective: to observe the effect of acupuncture combined with modern rehabilitation core muscle group training on cerebral hemodynamics, rehabilitation of muscle strength and quality of life in patients following a stroke. Methods: 80 patients with stroke were divided into the combination group and training group, 40 cases in each. The training group was given a program of modern rehabilitation core muscle group training, while the combination group was given acupuncture intervention in addition to core muscle group training. Observation: measure changes in indexes of cerebral hemodynamics, such as mean flow velocity (Vm) of bilateral middle cerebral arteries (MCA), resistance index (RI), pulse index (PI), grading of muscle strength and evaluation result of activities of daily living (ADL). Results: the total effective rate was 95.06% in the combination group and 72.5% in the training group, the difference being significant (P<0.05). After treatment, Vm levels of MCA were improved, but RI and PI were decreased in the two groups (P<0.05). The 3 indicis of the two groups were compared, and differences were significant (P<0.05). The excellent and good rate of muscle strength of limb rehabilitation and quality of life was 60.0, 55.0% and 32.5, 27.5% respectively, the difference being significant (P<0.05). Conclusion: acupuncture intervention combined with modern rehabilitation core muscle training can improve cerebral hemodynamics in patients with stroke, has a positive effect on rehabilitation of muscle strength of the limbs and can promote a positive prognosis.
