Abstract

Objective: to observe the curative effect of acupuncture and moxibustion combined with massage on neurasthenia treatment. Methods: 108 patients of neurasthenia were randomly divided into two groups. The control group received routine western medication therapy. The observational group received acupuncture plus massage treatment in addition to standard medication as in the control group. The total effective rate was compared between the two groups, as well as symptom alleviation time for symptoms such as insomnia, hypomensis, poor appetite, dizziness and headache. Results: insomnia, hypomnesis, poor appetite, dizziness and headache were alleviated at a faster rate in the observational group than in the control group. These differences between the two groups were found to be statistically significant ( P < 0.05). The total effective rate of the observational group was 94.2%, which was significantly higher than that of control group 64.3%, ( P < 0.05). Conclusion: acupuncture combined with massage improved the clinical symptoms of neurasthenia, which suggests that treating the root and branch can be accomplished simultaneously, and intensify the curative effect; therefore, these findings are of great clinical value.
