Abstract
Liver stores the hun (ethereal soul). The hum is the essence of yang, the subtle efficacity (ling) of qi. In the human body, qi is yang and blood is yin. If yang has no yin it cannot adhere (fu), if qi has no blood it will not remain. Liver controls blood while internally harboring yang qi, and it is this which is called the hun.
