Abstract
There are many similarities between Shang Han and Wen Bing theory, even thought the two schools of medicine are more than 1000 years apart. Both schools are so highly regarded in Chinese medicine that the sayings go: "The book of Shang Han Lun can cure all diseases," and "The secret of treatment can be found in the case studies of [warm disease specialist] Ye Tian-Shi." Grounded in the framework of the Shang Han Lun (Treatise on Cold Damage), the Wen Bing school developed and refined its approach to externally contracted disease.
