Abstract

To observe the clinical efficacy of catgut embedding technique in treating neuropathic headache. Methods: 72 patients with pain originating in the junction between the head, neck and posterior auricle were selected for the treatment group, in which catgut embedding therapy was applied to the area of pain. Meanwhile, 65 patients in the control group were treated with conventional acupuncture and moxibustion, according to the TCM syndrome differentiation and ashi points. The clinical efficacy of the two groups was observed and compared. Results: the total effective rate was significantly superior (95.8 %) in the treatment group vs 80% in the control group. Conclusion: Catgut embedding therapy at the priming point is effective in the treatment of neuropathic headache.
