Abstract
Chinese medicine practitioners in the West do not often get an opportunity to treat patients in an intesive care unit, due to hospital protocol and the urgency of administering treatment to the patient. The following experience gave me an opportunity to deepen my understanding of acupuncture and its potential in an emergency. It also enabled me to share my experience here, so that other practitioners may improve their skills and confidence in treating severe, acute diseases and patients may benefit from timely acupuncture.
