Abstract
Dr. Wai-Tak Cheung was the first licensed acupuncturist in the state of Oregon and one of the first in the country. In his long life, he trained generations of acupuncturists and was well-known as a skilled healer. All the while, he continued to learn and stretch his knowledge. "Keep your tools sharp!," he would tell his students, meaning that learning never ended. He practiced this in his own life, amassing an enormous personal library of medical books. He was especially interested in collecting books that had been suppressed under the communist regime. In 2010, his family donated these books to the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine in Portland -- more than 5,000 in all!
