Abstract

Lungs are a tender organ, very sensitive to both hot and cold, and thus easily become deficient when exposed to illness. But in discussing Lung deficiency patterns, since ancient times there has been much attention to Lung qi deficiency and Lung yin deficiency, with detailed discussion of their symptoms and the appropriate treatments, formulas, and so on. But there has been virtually nothing about Lung yang deficiency. If we take all the recent and modern publications on Chinese medicine, including the teaching materials used in the colleges, it is even worse: there really is nothing at all about it. Should we then take this to mean that Lung yang deficiency does not, objectively, exist at all? I submit that the answer is no. let us start with theory.
