Abstract

Acupuncture for removing wrinkle is common in clinical application, and the local surrounding needling is the main approach. Generally, evaluating therapeutic effect depends on the subjective judgment of patients, lacking of objective indices. In the report, 18-month-old senile rats and 8-month-old young rats were adopted to measure the content of dissoluble hydroxyproline (Hyp) and the activity of superoxide dismutase (SOD) in the skin before and after the acupuncture. Besides, the change in the ultra-structure of skin in the natural aging process and the effect of surrounding needling on it were studied to investigate the mechanism of acupuncture in preventing skin aging, supplying scientific basis for its clinical application.
