Abstract
Despite the emphasis on the cultivation of the Elixir in Master Lu Dongbin’s two instructional poetry sequences, as well as in the miscellaneous poems on cultivation, it should be understood that the successfully cultivated Elixir is not exactly the last word, for the completion of such a task is a gateway for still more thorough attunement to the Tao (Dao). And perhaps because it can be challenging to speak or to write of the Tao, there is so much more often, in the writings of Taoists (Daoists), instruction on the ways to the Way rather than on the Way itself.
