Abstract

Herpes zoster is a viral skin disease characterized by clustering blisters and neuralgia in the peripheral innervated area after infection of chickenpox and herpes zoster virus. Whenthe blisters abate, some viruses still remain in the ganglia and then cause pain in the related areas, which is called postherpetic neuralgia. The neuralgia is stubborn and difficult to cure, severely affected the patients' quality of life. In recent years, we treated it by acupuncture therapy and compared its effects with medications.
