Abstract
In late January 2023, the Journal of Natural Products (JNP), a peer-reviewed journal of the American Chemical Society and the American Society of Pharmacognosy, published an extensive paper by the ABC-AHP-NCNPR Botanical Adulterants Prevention Program (BAPP). The paper, which reviews ways that authentication methods for botanical ingredients are deceived, is dedicated to the late botanist, author, and photographer Steven Foster (1957-2022) and ethnopharmacologist Ezra Bejar (1958-2022), both of whom made substantial contributions to BAPP.
