Abstract
The concept of yinyang is probably the most important theory of Chinese medicine and Chinese philosophy. Yin and yang interpret the universe in terms of dualistic opposites in constant interplay. There are four aspects of the yin yang relationship:
1. Opposition of yin and yang
2. Interdependence of yin and yang
3. Mutual consuming of yin and yang
4. Inter-transformation of yin and yang (Maciocia 2005)
In clinical practice we can interpret the manifestations of any disease and its therapeutic interventions as being either yin or yang.
