Abstract

This review paper concerns a Chinese-medicine-based analysis of acupuncture treatment protocols for nausea and vomiting in cancer patients. It is supported by clinical trials, systematic reviews and meta-analysis. It begins with a detailed description of nausea and vomiting in cancer patients from a modern medicine perspective. Acupuncture treatment is based on standard Chinese medicine pattern analysis of nausea and vomiting. Clinical evidence for using Neiguan (PC6), an extremely important point to treat these conditions, is collected and reviewed. Clinical trials, systematic reviews and meta-analysis are demonstrated to support the application of acupuncture to nausea and vomiting in cancer patients.
