Abstract

Objective: To observe the clinical effect of acupuncture in treating chronic fatigue syndrome and its effect on anxiety. Methods: Ninety patients who accord with the inclusion criteria were divided into 2 groups, 45 patients in the treatment group received acupuncture therapy, and 45 patients in the control group received medicine therapy. The anxiety state was evaluated with Self-rating Anxiety Scale (SAS) before and after treatments in the two groups. Results: SAS scores of the CFS patients in the two groups decreased after treatment (P<0.01). There was no statistical difference of the SAS score between the two groups (P>0.05). Conclusion: Both acupuncture and medicine treatments could improve the anxiety symptoms of CFS patient.
