Abstract

Kidney failure in young animals is an unusual diagnosis with a poor prognosis. traditional Chinese veterinary medicine (TCVM) recognizes this clinical presentation as Kidney Jing Deficiency and offers unique TCVM treatment of these individuals through Chinese herbal medicine, food therapy, acupunture, and Tui-na. The following paper describes the concept of Jing Deficiency and presents a case example of successful resolution of renal insufficiency in a 5-month-old puppy through treatment with food therapy and Chinese herbal medicine.
