Abstract

Objective: to explore the therapeutic effect of acupuncture combined with cognitive therapy in the treatment of obsessive compulsive disorder. Method: 60 patients with obsessive-compulsive disorder were randomly divided into an acupuncture combined with cognitive therapy group (integrated treatment group) and a Western medicine treatment group, 30 cases in each group. The integrated treatment group received acupuncture plus psychotherapy, while the Western medicine group was treated with oral clomipramine. Both groups were treated for 8 weeks. Before and after treatment, each group was evaluated by the clinical efficacy and Y-BOCS score. Result: there were significant differences between both groups in clinical efficacy (P<0.05) and Y-BOCS (P<0.05). Conclusion: compared with single clomipramine treatment, acupuncture combined with cognitive therapy has a better curative effect and less side effects, and is therefore advantageous in treatment of obsessive compulsive disorder.
