Abstract

Objective: to investigate the clinical effect of acupuncture for functional dyspepsia (FD) with emotional disorder. Methods: Ninety patients with FD and emotional disorder were randomly divided into two groups according to the number table method, with 45 cases in each group. The control group was given panli ketone tablets, flupentixol and melitracen tablets. The experimental group were treated by acupuncture and moxibustion. Indigestion symptom integral, depression self-rating scale (SDS) score and the self evaluation anxiety scale (SAS) of both groups, before and after treatment were compared, and the total effective rates after treatment were compared. All the patients in each group were assessed at follow-up for six months. Frequency and number of returning visits to the hospital were documented for six months and compared. Results: the main symptom scores, SDS scores and SAS scores, were significantly decreased for six months and compared. Results: the main symptom scores, SDS scores and SAS scores, were significantly decreased in both groups after treatment (P < 0.01). The experimental group scores were lower than the control group (P < 0.01), and the differences was statistically significant. Conclusion: Acupuncture and moxibustion for FD with emotional disorder can effectively relieve symptoms and improve anxiety and depression. The curative effect is distinct; therefore, it has a clinical application value.
