Abstract

Cerebral palsy (CP) is a group of permanent disorders of the development of movement and posture, as well as activity limitation that attributed to non-progressive distrubances that occurred in the developing fetal or infant brain. Motor dysfunctions in CP children are often accompanied by perception, sensation, cognition, communication and behavior disturbances. In some cases, epilepsy, secondary muscle or skeletal problems may be present. At present, CP is a common cause of disability in children and periventricular leukomalacia (PVL) is the is the major cause of CP in China. Traditional Chinese medical therapies have been extensively used in CP treatment, including scalp acupuncture. To investigate the underlying mechanism, provide solid theoretical foundation for scalp acupuncture and further improve the clincal efficacy, we conducted a retrospective analysis using diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) on 18 cases that received rehabilitation training combined with Governor Vessel-unblocking and mind-refreshing scalp acupuncture.
